I’ve been practicing no dig and organic growing methods for many years and whilst we don’t have certified organic status in the Earth Heart Garden, you won’t find anything in our garden cultivated with artificial fertilisers or chemical pesticides.
All the growing techniques I use respect the natural balance of microbiology and soil structure. As well as harvestable crops, there are plenty of other plants and flowers on our land to encourage insects, pollinators and a healthy diversity of wildlife. |
Nik has had an interest in the natural world and spending time in wild places since childhood. He writes:
I've always enjoyed natural materials, and practical, hands on crafts such as woodwork. In my late teens, I decided I wanted to work with plants and started off by potting things up in a garden centre! It wasn't long before I spotted a vacancy for a position in greens dressing on a film set and I've been in the industry ever since. When living in London, without a garden of my own, I spent much of my free time on my allotment. Now I have the joy of my own growing space in the Welsh countryside and when I'm not working on set somewhere, I'm in the garden, sowing, mulching, watering and eventually harvesting! |
I first started selling my surplus allotment produce at car boot sales in London and am now excited to actively develop a small market garden and supply the local community.
We're working towards offering small veg boxes as well as individual items of seasonal produce this year so check out our online shop to see what's in stock now for collection and local delivery! |
